Petition to Reclassify the Manatee from Endangered to Threatened may be Warranted


The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced July 1, 2014, in their 90-day finding that a petition to reclassify the manatee from endangered to threatened may be warranted and their intention to initiate a status review of the species, which will culminate in the issuance of their 12-month finding. Comments submitted electronically are requested on or before September 2, 2014, and after this date, in writing to the North Florida Ecological Services Field Office in Jacksonville.
